The Very Inspiring Blog Award 2014

I have been spending a few days with my children courtesy of work scheduling and not really getting on social media until…I get a notification on my phone from WordPress saying my blog is receiving a lot of activity..basically on fire. So I asked the kids if I can take a quick look and see what’s up and why.     Well, needless to say I was quite shocked. Normally I will have maybe twenty-five views a day…but not this Saturday for some reason. When I looked at my statistics it said that over 100 people had viewed my blog. But what truly surprised me was a comment left by a fellow blogger, The Happy Quitter.

I will let you read it: I I nominated you for the “Very Inspiring Blogger Award” and I hope you don’t mind. You can read the nomination here. Please forgive me if you don’t want awards, or already have too many…in this case just tell me so. However, I nominated you because I like your blog and I hope I made you smile 🙂

I do not know who was floored the most…me or my daughter. I guess I had made a weird face or something so she asked me what had happened. When I told her that daddy’s blog got nominated for an award she jumped up off the floor and dove straight for me. The hug I got from my little angel was amazing. I showed her the award. She just smiled and she said “Daddy, you always inspire people.” I just looked at her and said “I hope so sweetie.” I then put my phone down and went back to playing with the kids.

Yet, I could not get out of my mind what Erin, my daughter, had said. Such profound words from such a little girl. I have no idea if I inspire anyone or not to be completely honest. I know there have been a few people like my posts and some even take the time to comment on them. I always feel honored when that happens. My prayer since starting this blog is that maybe just one person….just one…will read about some of the things I have been through and realize that they are not alone…that there is hope…a way to change…and it begins with Jesus.

Thank you Happy Quitter for this nomination. I truly hope that the Lord will allow me to live up to it. It is an honor that you like my blog enough to nominate it.

Here are the rules

  1. Thank and link the amazing person who nominated you.
  2. List the rules and display the award.
  3. Share seven facts about yourself.
  4. Nominate 15 other amazing blogs and comment on their posts to let them know they have been nominated.
  5. Optional: Proudly display the award logo on your blog and follow the blogger who nominated you.

Let me see if I can share seven facts about myself…hmmmm….welllll…

  1. I have two children whom I love more than life itself..Brandon who is 6 and Erin who is 9.

2. I actually love blogging and the other ministry work God has called me to do.

  1. My musical taste ranges from Acapella to Metal but the lyrical content must be positive or I will turn it off.
  2. The place I want to visit the most is Hong Kong because of the history behind the dynasties and the architecture.
  3. I still hold to the fact that God can and will restore marriages despite the fact that mine was not. It does take two willing participants with the right heart for this to work.
  4. I am a chocoholic to the max!
  5. I cry every time someone gets baptized for some reason.

My nominations for this award will not be an easy task for me as I do not read an awful lot of blogs. I spend most of my spare time reading the Bible, books on fatherhood, spiritual leadership and how to more fully understand my past addiction to porn and it’s effect on the brain and relationships. But I do have several favorite blogs that have impacted me and have inspired me to be a better man, husband and lover to my future wife. So with that being said here are my nominees and in no particular order by the way.

The Forgiven Wife for allowing God to move in her marriage and then boldly share it with others so others can see that there is hope and healing. (Marriage & Sex)

Pearl’s OysterBed for her willingness to shine a major light on sex within the marriage bed openly and honestly. (Marriage & Sex)

Kerri Chronicles for being a light in this dark world and inspiring me to write.

Bold & Unashamed for Richard’s desire to see men become bold in their faith, in their marriage, lead their children according to Biblical principles and his desire for men to repent from not only their addiction to porn but all addictions.

Chris Martin for inspiring me to be more Christ like.

Covenant Eyes for all their help in fighting the war against pornography through Biblical standards.

Everyone Has A Story for her willingness to share her story and inspire others through it. I know I have been touched many times reading her stories.

FogwalkerBirdie for being such a joy to go and visit. I always come away feeling a little renewed and for me with all the weights of the world a little renewed is a big thing.

My Journey Through Sex Addiction and Martin’s openness about his addiction, separation and love for his Bride. His story moved me more than I probably will ever be able to tell him…maybe it is because I prayed so much for him and his Bride.

The Abuse Expose’ with Secret Angel for all she does in helping other abuse victims. Abuse is not always physical folks.

The Generous Husband for their work with men, sex and marriage.

That’s Ron To You for the bravery it takes to speak your mind without fear or worry what others say or think. Also for her strength in carrying on.

One Helpmate for writing about being a porn addicts wife and that she still stands by her husband. That inspires me to no end.

Kindness Blog for sharing with the world random acts of kindness..letting us all know there ARE still good people in the world.

PinkMommieto2 for being a good friend to me and the fact that is takes guts to write about yourself and the problems you are dealing with.

But more importantly than the nomination I would like to thank each and everyone of you for taking time out your life to read a little about my journey. Hopefully it does inspire……

God Bless,

Stuart

  1. Stu, thank you for allowing us to see candidly into your heart about your struggles and your victories. I think you deserve this nomination. I have learned much about the inner workings of men through your words. Keep up the good work. God will empower others through you to help them walk more in the character of Christ. Blessings my blogging brother. (Thanks for the nod my way, as well.)

      1. i can easily see why! 🙂
And I loved that you put the phone right back down to rejoin them, instead of getting caught up in prideful temptation. Something so easy to unintentionally do.

        1. Thanks. I still treasure every moment with them. 🙂

Now, because of the accountability partner aspect it’s not so easy to just put the phone down at times when someone reaches out for help.
