Satan’s Lies | God’s Replies: Day 1 Accountability

Satan’s lie:
Accountability: There is no need to tell others your problems.

God’s reply:

Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
James 5:16 KJV

Oh boy…

How many years did I believe the lie Satan gave me while struggling with porn and sleeping around with whomever?

Thank God He finally dispelled that lie through a program called Celebrate Recovery. That verse…James 5:16…is my life verse and has been for the past seven years.

I would NOT be the man I am today if I had not shared my struggles with someone.

Someone I trusted.

Someone who cared enough about me to ask questions.

Someone who loved me enough to not only pray for me but to be there for me while being tempted and pray with me.

If you struggle with anything, I don’t care what it is, find a friend you can trust and be honest. Ask them to pray for you and with you. Let them know you may need to call them at odd hours when the temptation has you by the throat pinned up against the wall. Your way out is that friend. Call them!

  1. Oh, so many tangent lies to that one: No one cares enough to hear about all my problems; people won’t like me if they hear my sins; no one is interested in my baggage; I can do this myself, no need to expose my sins and embarrass myself… etc. 😕 Thank God for His Truth and Who He is, and for people He sends to us! Thank God for you.
Sins are not secret – they never are.

  2. I think true Christian fellowship is one of the most overlooked weapons in our arsenal against the enemy! I know I believed that lie for many years. It was finally impressed on my spirit that even predators in the wild look for that one that is “singled out” from the rest… easy prey. Thank you for sharing!

    1. Very good analogy with the predators Stacey! It is so true.

It is when we are alone, without the fellowship and support of others, that our resolve is the weakest. And the enemy pounces!
