RITUALS = Pre-Programmed Feet, Eyes, etc.

A wonderful post by my dear friend Hugh who is a fellow warrior against pornography, author and mentor to many.

Jesus Is The Best

The repetitive behaviors of addiction involve routines which can be termed “rituals” or ingrained routines that feel like a compulsion. When I was caught up in pornography past experiences had convinced me that when I began the ritual by going downtown, I would end up going into a certain used bookstore once again. It felt inevitable.

There is a point of no return in any given ritual, where you know that you are going to complete it. While you may try very hard to pressure yourself through guilt and shame not to act out, deep inside, you know that eventually, you are going to carry out this routine or ritual. After all, it’s what you always do.

The newest books in the Holy Bible are nearly 2,000 years old. And the book of Proverbs is something like 3,000 years old. That’s why I’m so amazed by how relevant these writings…

Deeper & Darker: Your True Need

Here is the devotional: Sin is more sinister than disobedience. God calls the angels to shield their eyes from the wickedness they are about to witness. His people have committed two evils: “They have forsaken [him], the fountain of living waters, and hewed out cisterns for themselves, broken cisterns that can hold no water.” Imagine… Continue reading Deeper & Darker: Your True Need

HOW PORN DISTORTED MY VIEW OF SEX

My brother in Christ has penned a thought provoking post guys. In here is a answer to his wife’s question that honestly threw me for a loop. Well, his answer didn’t..it was the fact that he answered. Most men would not have done so.

I love this brother. He has helped so much in ministering to porn/sex addicts. Not only is he an administrator on my Facebook page Resurrecting The Redeemed From Porn Addiction and it’s associated groups…he has written a book on his own porn struggle and coming open about it. The link to his book is at the bottom of his post.

Jesus Is The Best

Yesterday, at a friend’s recommendation, I read a blog post where a loving, Christian wife encouraged others to perform oral sex on their husbands.  (She provided more details than I will include here, as I plan to keep this rated PG-13 or below.)

I found it interesting that right off the bat she stated that many husbands have watched porn where men degrade women and use women for their own self-gratification.  She also mentioned how a husband might want his wife to do something to recreate a scene from porn.

This took my mind back to where I was several years ago when I was caught up in the compulsive cycle of porn.  My wife knew nothing about my addiction.  I can remember buying certain kinds of clothing for her to wear when we were having sexual relations, because I had seen and been aroused by it in porn.

Years…

HOPE – I can’t go on without hope!

Our paths are similar in our porn addiction, though I went much deeper and darker. BUT, we are both proof of God’s grace and forgiveness AND we both can testify that freedom is possible… through Christ!

Jesus Is The Best

Pornography was my Achilles heel.  I had tried so many times to change and failed every time.  When I told myself that this time was going to be different, another part of me replied in an instant, “Don’t kid yourself. You will be right back at it again before you know it.”  Deep down in my soul, I felt I was doomed to repeat yesterday’s mistakes today, and then do the same thing again tomorrow.  No matter how sorry I was for what I had done wrong, or how convinced I was that I needed to do what was right, nothing ever seemed to change.

Maybe you have experienced the same sense of despair.  People caught up in pornography have often gotten to the point where the whole idea of hope seems remote, far removed; unbelievable and unattainable.  Things are really bad and there is often not much light at…
