Here is the devotional:
Living a lust-free lifestyle is a combination of several quick decisions. Regardless of how long your road is to get and maintain a lust-free lifestyle, the decisions are the same.
You must decide to become lust-free. You must have the tools you are willing to master on a daily basis. The battle may be minute by minute in the beginning, so you have to commit to brutal honesty with yourself, God, and a man (don’t keep trying by yourself). You have to commit to start every day fresh. You may lose a fight here and there, but today is a new day and you are totally forgiven of your past.
Remember, this is a journey with ongoing opportunities to win, to love instead of lust, to see all women as sisters in Christ. You will need daily disciplines, a Godly team, and continual growth as you travel this journey. Keep traveling, keep growing toward the lust free state Christ has paid for.
A few consistent daily choices create a habit of preparation to defeat lust and make you ready to win. Men who make a daily choice to prepare, often get and stay lust-free earlier and longer than those who wait for lust to decide when and where to fight. Be proactive; start daily disciplines as a part of your life and you will be victorious.
Walk to Freedom
1. How have you seen daily decisions improve other areas of your life?
2. How are you willing to commit to a daily discipline to prepare you to fight lust?
3. What time of day will you practice this daily regimen?
Here are the scriptures referenced:
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
Romans 5:1-5 KJV
For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
Hebrews 10:36 KJV
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
Galatians 6:9 KJV
Here are Stu’s thoughts:
Living lust free is a choice. And it is a daily choice.
Sometimes it’s a struggle. Other days it’s not. But it is always a choice on how we look at people.
If we pray in the mornings asking God to allow us to see others as he sees them it makes it easier. Trust me on that one.
If we choose to be honest with God about what we see and how we see it he will give us a new mindset. Our faith journey is always about renewing our minds. That never goes away.
We don’t wake up one morning and never have bad, angry, jealous, prideful or lustful thoughts. They are there. But it is how we handle those thoughts that count.
Get an accountability partners that you can trust. Read scripture. Be in the attitude of prayer always. Not easy, I know….
As the author said be proactive. Don’t wait until you see that woman or man to battle lustful thoughts. Be preparing once you wake up!
Powerful Words Stu! Blessings on you and especially your writing here! So encouraging to others too. Keep writing for the LORD!
