Why Like Little Children

And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 18:3 KJV

Why? Because a child is dependent upon it’s parents, questions everything to gain knowledge, sees no skin tone, finds joy in the little things and loves unconditionally…

They also have blind faith & trust. You can be throwing your child into the arms of the other parent and that child will have no fear trusting wholeheartedly that they will be caught.

They are hungry most of the time as they are growing.

I have a scar under my nose where I was not caught once. That did not stop me from wanting to be tossed around though.

For the most part they have not been corrupted by the world.

Is it possible for new adult converts to become child-like in their hunger for food (the Bible), faith, trust, dependency upon the Father?

I believe it can happen. I believe it does happen. I just don’t see it often enough.

Thoughts?

  2. Interesting that you should post that today, Stu. I’ve had a post idea rolling around in my head for a couple of days. My reading in Daily Bread encouraged that idea, and yours joins it. It’s about our passion for Christ, and how it relates to our personalities and how we were raised. I receive those taps on my shoulder, and purpose to work on that today.
I agree that we are born as clean slates (albeit with our own definite personalities), that God desires all our slates to be filled with Him and His Words and ways. But, oh, we are a sinful people! Harming an innocent child – 😖😥! Sometimes that innocence is stolen.
