In The Likeness Of Men: Every Knee Shall Bow

Here is the devotional:

I look around at today’s culture, and I wonder if people know that every knee shall bow at the return of Jesus. Based on actions and speech, I don’t know if they understand that when Jesus comes back, glory will be given by everyone. Now, I can see Christians reading this and nodding their head in agreement, but Christian are you ready to bow and give Glory?

The reason I ask is that’s what we should be doing today. Matthew 7:21 says, “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.” If that doesn’t make you stop and consider your walk with Christ, nothing will.

If you know Jesus as your personal savior, then you have the privilege of reading scripture and understanding what it means to be more like Christ. You have the advantage of an example to grow to be more like in your daily lives. Be in the likeness of Christ Jesus rather than in the image of Men.

If you don’t know Jesus as your personal savior, I pray that you read the Roman Road. The scripture references are below:

Romans 1:20-21

Romans 3:23

Romans 5:8

Romans 6:23

Romans 10:9-10

Romans 10:13

Romans 11:36

The Roman Road shows you the path – are you ready to accept God’s gift of Salvation now? If so, believe in what Jesus Christ did for you on the cross, repent of your sins, and commit the rest of your life to Him. This is not a ritual, just a prayerful guideline for your sincere step of faith. Pray this prayer:

“Father, I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from you. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward you. Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again. I believe that your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your will for the rest of my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.”

Here are the scriptures referenced:

Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians 2:9‭-‬11 KJV

Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Matthew 7:21‭-‬23 KJV

Here are Stu’s thoughts:

Well, they did turn it around to the way I thought they were going to go. Did you catch it? If you read to fast you may have missed that one sentence….

Be in the likeness of Christ Jesus rather than in the image of Men.

But they did not do it the way I thought they would.

In the likeness of men…

Here are my thoughts. We were created in the image of God. That is how God created us.

Then when God’s ultimate plan comes into play Jesus comes to earth as a baby, in the likeness of men.

For those of us who have accepted Christ as our savior we are to become more like Him and less like other earthly men. So that Jesus’ likeness is seen in us.

We come full circle…back to the image of God. Well as close as we can in this skin that covers our bodies.

The flesh and the spirit are constantly fighting one another. When Jesus came in the likeness of men He sinned not.

Is it possible to go and sin no more? I don’t know! I’ve never met a person who quit sinning once they accepted Christ.

But let’s get back to the topic at hand. I got a little carried away.

Every knee is going to bow to Jesus. Plain and simple. No ifs ands or buts!

And it will either be well done thou good and faithful servant or depart from me as I never knew you.

Where will your eternity be spent?

Where will your spouses eternity be spent? Your neighbors? Your co-workers? Your children and their friends?

Are you pointing to Jesus in your likeness to Him or are you in the likeness of men letting your flesh just run wild?

I want to be more like Jesus! Just saying. I have a long way to go.

But each and everyday we must choose to die to our flesh and be more like Jesus or just let the flesh win.

The choice is yours my friends. Choose wisely!

  1. Love it, Stu!
So I’ve been having this ongoing conversation with a dear friend about “letting the flesh run wild” and the idea of a “lust tap.” You know, like a water tap. You turn it off. Sounds simple right? Just like you turn off the water. Self-control.

And you know what? Speaking as a women here—when a man exercises self-control—it’s super attractive! I know my friend can be trusted and he can trust me. And the time that was spent running wild…is now given in prayer. Uber super attractive. And the thing about “turning it off at will” means we are in control to “turn it back on at will” when appropriate…yep…passion need not run dry if the well is allowed to replenish. 😊. Don’t for the LOVE of GOD squander this glorious gift HE gave to us. Cherish the gift always. 💚

    Have a great weekend!

I love this whole comment. Thank you so much.
I believe that if more couples would indeed curb their flesh and spend more time in prayer they will find that their passion for one another is deeper and more sincere😊
