Defcon 4: Increased Security Measures

Here is the devotional:

You may be familiar with the movie “The Ten Commandments” with Charlton Heston as Moses. If you are not, watch it! It’s a classic worth your time. If you are familiar with the movie, then you can see in your mind Moses holding his staff over the waters of the Red Sea as the Egyptians were in hot pursuit of them.

Before computer-generated imagery was even a thought, movie special effects were a lot more complicated. I still don’t know how they pulled this off back in 1956 but it has made its mark in my memory.

As the waters receded and allowed the Israelites to cross on the dry ground, you understood that God was in complete control of the situation. Nothing the Israelites nor Egyptians could do would impact the shear power and will of God and the protection of His chosen people.

In DEFCON 5, we are at peace and free to love all those around us. Here in DEFCON 4, you see that security measures are a bit higher, and God is stepping in to protect His people. When you are in the will of God, you are in the protection of God, even amidst storms.

In Philippians 4:7, the Bible talks about the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Do you know that peace of mind?

Uncommen Questions:

Are there storms raging all around you? How do you handle them?

Have you ever had a moment in which you watched God provide and protect you during a difficult moment in your life?

Uncommen Challenge:

I challenge you to take a moment and reflect on how God has intervened in your life. Thank Him for His Love and Mercy. I also challenge you to take any current storm you are going through to that same faithful God to calm your heart and give you peace about the road ahead.

Here are the scriptures referenced:

And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.

The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.
Exodus 14:13‭-‬14 KJV

Here are Stu’s thoughts:

I agree! If you have not seen the Ten Commandments with Charlton Heston as Moses it is a must watch. Probably one of the best movies ever made!

I’ll be honest I don’t like handling storms! I don’t do very well in storms! Well spiritual storms that is.

And you would think I would be use to them by now since it seems as if I am always in one. Or it feels that way to me here in the past 4 years.

Am I the only one that feel like God should like part the waters more often?

But I believe there are some rules that need to be followed first…

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.
Philippians 4:6‭-‬9 KJV

Pray for everything with a thankful and humble heart. That’s where the peace comes from…knowing you have laid everything at His feet!

Then those things that true, honest, just, pure, lovely and of good report are to be thought of all the time.

And finally what we have read of Christ in scripture we are to adhere to and do!

Sounds tough, doesn’t it?

It is. Following Christ is by no means a simple task! It’s tough!

But if we want God to take the reins when the storm hits, to supply a way through the storm, and then shut the proverbial door on the enemy then we must do our very best to follow after Christ!

It’s time to put out faith into practice!!

    1. Thanks Deb!

And thank you so much for the prayers.

Still no real update on Ryan. They speculate the enlarged heart was/is a result of Covid but we will have to wait and see.
They sent him due to lack of rooms. He has an appointment with a cardiologist so hopefully we will get answers. Right now he is home resting.

  1. Amen, Stu! I have found my life is so much better when I think about excellent and praiseworthy things, and keep my mind fixed on Jesus. Sometimes it seems like there are storm waves all around us all the time and the moment we lose sight of Jesus, the crashing waves are all we can see. I’m always telling our kids to speak life over themselves and think about encouraging things. Something I need to remind myself to do too. Blessings, brother. Praying Angie and Ryan are healed too!
