Here is the devotional:
Yesterday, we talked about debunking the myth that sex is dirty. Today, let’s talk about another common lie we can often think about sex. Although sex is more than an indulgence of the flesh, it is also more than the act of procreation. Read Song of Songs 4:5-7.
This Song is more than a metaphorical symbol between Christ and the Church. We cannot neglect the physical aspects of its words. This Song is also a call for a husband to take delight in his wife’s body and a wife to delight in the body of her husband.
Now read Song of Songs 7:6-9. Have you ever caught the smile of your spouse and thought, “They are so beautiful”? Or, have you ever noticed them as they walked through the living room and said, “You look fiiiine today”?
There should be no shame in looking at your spouse with delight in your heart, thankfulness in your soul, and mutually choosing to engage in the act of sex because you desire one another. Yes, God made our spouse to be pleasing to our eyes and arouse our desires so we may be fruitful and multiply, but the pleasures of sex should not end there. We are missing out on one of the most blessed aspects of sex in marriage if we do. It honors God to delight in His creation, your spouse.

Here are the scriptures referenced:
Behold, thou art fair, my love; behold, thou art fair; thou hast doves’ eyes within thy locks: thy hair is as a flock of goats, that appear from mount Gilead.
Thy teeth are like a flock of sheep that are even shorn, which came up from the washing; whereof every one bear twins, and none is barren among them.
Thy lips are like a thread of scarlet, and thy speech is comely: thy temples are like a piece of a pomegranate within thy locks.
Thy neck is like the tower of David builded for an armoury, whereon there hang a thousand bucklers, all shields of mighty men.
Thy two breasts are like two young roes that are twins, which feed among the lilies.
Until the day break, and the shadows flee away, I will get me to the mountain of myrrh, and to the hill of frankincense.
Thou art all fair, my love; there is no spot in thee.
Come with me from Lebanon, my spouse, with me from Lebanon: look from the top of Amana, from the top of Senir and Hermon, from the lions’ dens, from the mountains of the leopards.
Thou hast ravished my heart, my sister, my spouse; thou hast ravished my heart with one of thine eyes, with one chain of thy neck.
How fair is thy love, my sister, my spouse! how much better is thy love than wine! and the smell of thine ointments than all spices!
Thy lips, O my spouse, drop as the honeycomb: honey and milk are under thy tongue; and the smell of thy garments is like the smell of Lebanon.
A garden inclosed is my sister, my spouse; a spring shut up, a fountain sealed.
Thy plants are an orchard of pomegranates, with pleasant fruits; camphire, with spikenard,
Spikenard and saffron; calamus and cinnamon, with all trees of frankincense; myrrh and aloes, with all the chief spices:
A fountain of gardens, a well of living waters, and streams from Lebanon.
Song of Solomon 4:1-15 KJV
Here are Stu’s thoughts:
Ok, everyone…sex is FUN! And not just because it feels good.
The sad thing is this…I have heard BOTH men and women say sex is just for Procreation and not for enjoyment purposes 😮
If that were true then it so unfair to the wife because the husband gets his jollies rolls over and goes to sleep. Waits a few months to see if she is pregnant then tries again. Ummm….NO!
Sex is a bonding mechanism that is designed by God to draw the husband and wife closer together!
The two shall become one flesh…is not a reference to having a child. If that were true no one would have more than one child.
Now, men, go back and re-read that!
He delights in his bride!
Men, if you can’t look at your wife and still get that hubba hubba feeling then there is something wrong. And not with her.
The same is true for you ladies! You can’t look at your husband and get weak in the knees from seeing him there is something wrong.
Angie keeps telling me is gaining weight. I’m like…and? That does NOT change the way I feel for her, love her and want to be passionately intimate with her. I grew to love her heart, mind and personality. Her gorgeous body is a bonus😍
And well…neither of us want more kids and she has had a full hysterectomy. So there’s that.
So should I never want to make love to her again because she can’t have kids?!?!? Ummm…HECK NO.
I WANT to make love to her because I love her! And yes it feels good. But I also make sure that she is being pleased sexually before she pleases me. PERIOD! Unless she set the rules that is for me this time😊
And to be honest we both get such pleasure out of pleasing each other it’s almost better than the actual intercourse. Just because it’s called foreplay does not mean it lasts only four minutes.
Take your time…oh…I don’t know…hours with foreplay🤪
Sex is meant to be enjoyed! Sex is meant to be fun. So laugh if you fall off the bed.
Sex is meant to be pleasurable! So please each other. Put your spouses wants and needs above your own. If you both do that…wow!
And yes, it is meant for Procreation! So practice making a baby and enjoy it!
Sex is not a chore! It’s a gift! One that needs to be treasured and appreciated!
