Sex: Myth #1 Sex Is Dirty

Here is the devotional:

A lot of people are hesitant to bring up the subject of sex—especially in Christian circles. Which has given rise to several myths about Christians and sex. Let’s take a look into some of those myths so we can get some answers, once and for all. Here is the first of five myths which we, the Church, must no longer allow into our worldview of Christianity or our marriages: sex is dirty.

How do most conversations on sex start? With a look around the room at who may be within earshot, a hand cupped over one’s mouth, and a whisper. Sometimes we stay quiet because we don’t want to let just anyone into our private world. Sometimes it’s because we’re embarrassed. But what other message could this lowering of the voice and watching out for who’s listening subconsciously send? It could send a message that what you’re whispering about (sex) is bad. It can take hold until it enters your conscious thoughts, causing you to feel shame when discussing it—even with your spouse!

Yet, what does God say about sex and sexuality? God created sexual intimacy for marriage, and if God created it, how can it be dirty? In 1 Timothy 4:1-5, Paul confronted false teachings on marriage. He urged believers to receive the truth that what God created, God deemed good. He further urged them not reject the pleasures found within but to wholeheartedly receive them with thanksgiving.

Furthermore, if sex in marriage is dirty, then why is Scripture so graphic in its forthright description of sexual love? Don’t believe me? Then stand up right now and read aloud Proverbs 5:18-19. I’ll wait. … Did your voice suddenly go quiet when you began to read, “may her breasts satisfy you always, may you ever be intoxicated with her love”? I bet it did—especially if other people were around.

But there’s nothing dirty or shameful in God-honoring sex. God created man and woman the way He did so your spouse’s body would be delightful to you. So, sex, when in the context of marriage, is a gift from God.

Here are the scriptures referenced:

Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:

For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

1 Timothy 4:1‭-‬5 KJV

Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.

Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.

Proverbs 5:18‭-‬19 KJV

So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.

For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:

For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

Ephesians 5:28‭-‬33 KJV

Here are Stu’s thoughts:

As horrible as this may sound to some of y’all I am thankful someone has the nerve to create the 50 Shades Of Grey movies 😮

To me it actually brought sex out of the proverbial closet and had just about every adult talking about it.

Some were freaked out. Some where ashamed and yet others were like man that’s tame compared to the stuff I’ve done. I sort of fall into the latter scope on that one…but anyway…we’ll save that for a later post…maybe.

The main thing about sex is that it is NOT dirty. Sex, in fact is one of the most beautiful pleasures God created for us humans.

The sad thing about sex is that is not talked about in the church unless it is one of these…

The wife should always be willing to have sex with her husband otherwise he will lust after other women and cheat 😠

Sex is for Procreation only😮

Sex is for the husband’s enjoyment not the wife’s.😯

Missionary is the only “Christian” position 🙄

Notice how the church has made it to where sex is no fun for the wife.

Let’s be honest with each other…

First off the wife should never feel obligated to have sex with her husband! Period! That’s asinine. A wife should want to, yearn to and love to have sex with her husband.

If sex was ONLY for Procreation it would not feel as good as it does! It would be a mundane task with no enjoyment for either partner.

The one about the husband’s enjoyment and not the wife’s has always ticked me off. What a load of malarkey! A woman could AND should get enjoyment from the act of sex. Yeah, ok, it may take some time to the juices flowing, especially after menopause, but once they are they usually don’t stop until she says ok I’ve had enough.

Men, let me ask a question. Don’t answer publicly please! Just something to ponder. Has your wife actually had a real orgasm? You do know they can have those, right? Mulitple times if you know what to do to get her there.

And, no, a wife does not have to have an orgasm to enjoy sex! But it sure makes it more exciting 😊

Who ever came up with the “missionary” position I give kuddos to. It is a great intimate position. But for Pete’s sake it is NOT the only position. I don’t have the space on my blog to give all of them. But there are many and for the most part they can be just as intimate if you use your hands to caress things!

The only thing “dirty” about sex is body fluids. Some people freak out over that for some weird reason.

Sex is NOT dirty! Sex is beautiful, amazing and holy (within the confines of marriage)

  1. This is soooo good Stuart!!! I can’t wait to read the next part.

Ohhhh, I remember when those fifty shades books came out and women were reading them everywhere. I have never read them, but what little I heard about them was enough to make me go, “YEAH!!!”.

I wanted to see the movies, but not the nudity. 😬 So, I have only seen the first one after it was on tv and cleaned up a little. I LOVED it.

None of the men I know seem to be a fan and I heard or read somewhere that men didn’t like it because they couldn’t fulfill the fantasy thier women were having. I think it’s great that women got so excited about having sex! But yeah, they need to not compare their man to Christian Grey. They need to make their own stories up and enjoy the bedroom. Fifty shades should be an inspiration and spark some ideas or make you want to have fun. It shouldn’t be a fantasy that a man can never live up to (most men aren’t millionaires with secret red rooms).

I’ve seen the DVD’s and books for sale at the stores and I kept playfully hinting to my Man that I wanted them when he was trying to decide what to get me for a gift. I want to see what happened so bad. He won’t buy them of course and he doesn’t want me watching or reading any of that series (that seems to be how the men that I know react anytime it’s brought up). I don’t know why! Maybe they feel threatened by it? Anyways, I wouldn’t drop it, I kept going on about it and his reaction was, “I’ll show you fifty shades of grey.” 😮😎😉

    1. I watched the first one with Angie. Not as much nudity as I thought there would be. We enjoyed the movie. And we enjoyed making up our own stuff to do 😉

There is nothing wrong with being blindfolded during foreplay or even sex because it heightens your senses. Nothing wrong with being tied down (loosely mind you) during all that either. Makes it fun for both parties but it must be agreed upon first.

Haha…I’ll show you fifty shades of grey 😎.

I didn’t work on the next one yet. I had Brandon most of the weekend. It’s coming though…

      1. I agree! Handcuffs are fun too (Mr. Bodyguard reference). 😉 😂

Yeah, my Man doesn’t want me watching it, but it’s okay cause he’s a freak. I am too so…😎

I will be looking for it! Glad Brandon came over. I know you missed him.
