Sunday Music: P.O.D. | Youth Of The Nation

Ah…the wonderful days of MTV and people being able to see videos of bands they normally would never have heard. But then the video made the band be heard on the radio and boom!

That’s what happened to P.O.D. Don’t get me wrong. They had a big following prior to the release of Satellite but this song touched the hearts of many. And not just the youth of an era gone by.

It was a wake-up call to suicide for many. A loud voice in a silent world.

The suicide rate has not gone down. It’s gotten worse with all the bullying, gay bashing and the now I don’t know what sex gender I am generation. As well as the entitlement generation who feel unloved because their parents will not buy them every freaking thing the feel they want.

First allow me to say that if you were born with a penis no matter how “effeminate” you may feel you are still a male. And if you were born with a vagina it doesn’t matter how much of a “tomboy” you are you are still female.

And to all the entitlement people…no your not entitled to a darn thing other than the love of your parents and the necessities to survive.

Now with that said…it still gives me no right to look down on anyone and belittle them.

I had friends who did look for love in the wrong places.

Even back in the 80’s there were boys more in touch with their feminine side than their male side and vice versa but I would never had picked on them.

I had friends who committed suicide in high school and even as an adult. The world can be a very cruel place.

Words hurt if done out fear and lack of knowledge. And they can even hurt when said out of love.

I could go on and on with the stories playing out in my head right now but I will not. That’s not the purpose of this post. This post is about a song that is a reflection of our nation as a whole. And it’s more real a decade later.

Drive by shooters killing innocent children. Sex-traffickers stealing our kids to become nothing more than a toy for someone’s sickness and pleasure. Young women being drugged at a bar so a man can take advantage of her…the date rape drugs 😡

I fear that this song is more true today than when it was released. The youth of a nation in a nation that has lost its way.

How and when will it change? It won’t unless we as Christians get the hell out of our comfort zones and actually love people and exhibit Christ to a dying world!
