What If I Stumble?

Stumble, step, stumble, step, trip, step, trip, one knee hits the floor, and then your other knee hits the floor. All this right before you fall flat on your face.

Many of us stay in that position because we feel ashamed for allowing ourselves to stumble in the first place.

Now you feel as if the weight of whatever it was that made you stumble, trip and fall flat on your face is too strong…then you give up. That’s not how it should be as a child of God!

Yes, everyone stumbles! We are human…we will make mistakes, we WILL slip up.

But it as that moment when the first knee hits the floor that counts. That is the turning point. Are you going to allow the thing that made you stumble, lord over you and make you fall or are you going to say “OK God, I’m not strong enough to handle this. You are Lord over my life and I need you right now. Give me a way out of this!”

It’s that moment that defines our walk.

Trust me, I’ve been face down in the weight of my own sin, going there is no way out of this. This is too hard to handle. And by myself it was.

But the moment I gave it to God it became easier. He lifted the guilt and shame off my back and I was able to stand up again.

It has been a journey of a lot of pain and heartache! But I can now praise God because I know that once I stumble I can go to Him and ask for forgiveness and get right back up without tripping and falling.

There is hope folks for Christians and Non-Christians alike. And that hope is found in Christ.

Back to the title for a second…what IF I stumbled.

What would you say if I did look at porn again? The desire is still there at times and I fight, still, like crazy. What would your thoughts of me be? How would you react? Would unfollow my blog? Would you belittle me in the comments?

Or would you be Christ like in your words and actions?

Take to heart my questions!! Because deep down…a LOT of Christians have the same questions going through their mind while they are fighting their own battles!

    1. It is hard to sit and contemplate what someone would say about our “hidden” sin. It does truly hurt. True, on the wrong part. I was met with only love and understanding.

      Thank you Kathy.

  1. Hi Stuart, I would hope that our reaction would be the same as what Jesus showed to the woman caught in adultery, not to mention the reality of our own sin which should cause us to drop our own condemning stones. And prayer, for you and all of us. Grace and blessings!

  2. This was a powerful post Stu! How many times have we all messed up, and the guilt and shame from it caused us to move away, even from God? To feel like what’s the use, I can’t beat this thing…and the truth is, we can’t on our own. But God can. Now, the answer to your question, I would say, neither do I condemn you. I have no stones to throw. Flesh messes up. Only God’s Spirit can give us the strength to fight temptation. And I would say, hang in there. Get up off that floor as quickly as possible, forgive yourself and dust off those jeans! Don’t give up! God don’t make no junk!😄

  3. I am reminded of Romans 14:4 Who art thou that judgest another man’s servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.

It’s not my place to judge you or anyone else for stumbling, and more importantly, it’s not me or even you yourself who will hold you up so you stand. You will be held up, but not by your own power. God will do it. He will hold you up. One day you will stumble no more. That’s how the story ends. It’s something to look forward to!

  4. Hmmm… I would most likely say that I have been there, done that and nothing would make me unfollow your blog. 💕

“For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief. ” ~ Proverbs 24:16

All humans stumble Stuart, what’s important is that you always get back up and not stay where Satan wants you. When you do stumble, (as we all do, don’t let anyone fool ya 😉), don’t get stuck there and worry about what people might think. Don’t let anyone discourage you. Remember who you are and that you are NOT your mistakes. None of us are.

I appreciate your honesty. That is something that a lot of people lack these days. Many Christians hide behind a smile and a ton of “Christianese”. You dont and I like that.

    1. Thank you sis.

      I don’t like “Christianese” either!

      I love that Proverb ❤

What scares me about ever looking at porn again is the fact that God’s Word says it would worse than before. And it was way bad then. And I know if I looked I would look again. I RUN!

I want the REAL intimacy! 🙂
