Satan’s Lie:
Sin: Basically, people are good at heart.
God’s Reply:
For from the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, all sexual immorality, theft, lying, and slander.
Matthew 15:19 NLT
I hear it all the time.
He really is a good man…yet he cheats on his wife with porn, sexting other woman and is on the verge of an affair.
He’s a good man…yet behind closed doors he medicates his problems with alcohol and is verbally or physically abusive.
How is this man good again? Please enlighten me!
I’ve had women tell me this….
I really am a good person.
I’m like no your not! You are a lying, conniving, self-centered, money hungry, materialistic, it has to be my way right now or else woman.
Yeah…there’s a word for that type of woman.
See I’m being bad right now. I didn’t type it out but I thought. And your being bad because you know which word it is!
None of us are good people.
I’m not a good person. I still have plenty of issues. Not near as many as I used to, but that doesn’t make me good. That makes God good. Because He is changing me.
The only thing that makes a person good is God loving inside them and changing them.
I’m not good and I don’t “deserve” anything. The only good in me is Jesus. I say this to people around me and they always think I’m just being down on myself or negative. They don’t get it.

You’re right, they dont. And they won’t until they hit their knees and surrender. Then they will 🙂

One of the questions I ask when sharing the Gospel with people is, “Are you a good person?” Invariably, people say they are.

Right! And then they realize that were incorrect.

I’ve heard so many people in my time say “I consider myself to be a pretty good Christian.”

Jer 17.9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
The answer is: only God. God knows our wicked hearts (and loves us). We cannot know our hearts, since we ate of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil: we’ve decided that we can decide for ourselves what is right and wrong.
