Satan’s Lie:
Servant: Why help someone when they can help themselves?
God’s Reply:
If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet.
John 13:14 KJV
It’s called being a servant!
How do you think the church of old survived? It wasn’t because everyone went along there merry way. No, they helped each other.
They shared food. They shared in supplies. They helped with family members who were ill. They helped building each others homes.
They helped each other!
That’s what’s wrong with the world today!
We are to caught up in the rat race called life to even care.
There is just no respect for one another anymore.
Very rarely do I ever see anyone stop and help someone change a tire anymore.
And pulling over to the side of the road when a funeral procession goes by is a thing of the past 😦
Would you help your neighbor work in their yard? Probably not. I get it. I don’t even like working on the yard where I’m renting but I have helped my neighbor.
It seems the only time we come together to help is in a time of crisis like a tornado plows through the town and you help cut trees down.
We are called to be servants and not just as a husband but as a person to those around us.
We should also help without expecting anything in return. Though I will admit that one day the shoe may be on the other foot and you need the help.
Who will you call? Ghostbusters?!? Don’t think so.
You should not have to call at all. Servanthood is a voluntary thing we should all choose. Your reward is in heaven for your acts of kindness not here on earth. As the Lord considers all acts of servanthood a sacrificial act.
Amen!

God created each of us with different gifts; so, we have to help each other with those gifts in order to accomplish a complete body. No person can do everything. We are created for relationships.
Amen, Stuart!

Exactly! And that, I believe is part of the big problem. No one sees AS one body 😦

That’s so true! In today’s world nobody wants to help others, it’s so sad. And you’re right, at one time people always helped out with family or neighbors.

Yeah, it is sad.

Great post. I needed to hear this today as I wasn’t sure whether or not to reach out to someone. I am recovering from some co-dependent traits which had service to others mixed up into my own needs–I was serving ‘for me’ and over extending myself in the process and furthermore the help I was offering wasn’t always welcome, LOL (I see ‘why’ NOW!). Genuine service, for the sake of service, as you wrote about here is that which is Holy before God!
