Satan’s Lie:
Purity: Looking at bad things is OK if I don’t do anything.
God’s Reply:
I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.
Psalms 101:3 KJV
I am here to tell you based on personal experience that looking at bad things is NOT good for you regardless if you do anything or not.
Mental images of things seen that can’t be unseen stay with you forever it seems like.
They mess with your head.
They mess with your heart.
They mess with the way you look at others.
They mess with the way you treat others.
It just messes with you…trust me.
See, you can look at something bad (porn, nude photo) and not act out but the repercussions are there none the less.
Or you just do what Job did…
You can’t lust if your not looking! Just saying.
It’s about integrity!
Its about the heart!
No, it’s not ok to look at bad things…period!
A covenant between man and God is a very serious thing. When God made a covenant with Abraham, He had Abraham kill the animals for sacrifice, set them out and God walked around them…only God. God was planning to honor His covenant. Thus covenants are not to be taken lightly. I’m glad that you are making this covenant, but I wanted to make sure that you know that in the Old Testament, covenants required a blood sacrifice and in the New Testament, you are covered with the blood of Jesus. Serious stuff!

It is serious. But men need to this intentional in the their integrity to hold it to that high of a standard.

It’s like filling your head with ammunition that’s used against you.

I love that you used Ps 101.3 to counteract what we look at. God’s Word carries power!
