Satan’s Lies | God’s Replies: Day 23 You May Not Forget But You Can Forgive

Satan’s Lie:
Love: How can I forget so many wrongs my friend has done?

God’s Reply:

And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.
1 Peter 4:8 KJV

This one is sort of tough for me to make sense of. Here why…

God forgets our sins the moment they are confessed.

You can be in a conversation with Him tomorrow and say to Him…do you remember that thing I did yesterday and He will be like no, you asked for forgiveness. I forgave you. I don’t remember.

But if you are talking with a friend the conversation will be totally different.

I will say this you will never forget all of them.

There are still memories of wrongs done to me…even as a child…that I still remember. This doesn’t mean that I have not forgiven that person.

And to be completely honest…remembering helps to ensure I do not allow it to happen again.

And just because I remember does not mean I no longer love that friend. I love all my friends regardless of our past mistakes.

Trust me, if they hurt me…I’m sure I hurt them too in one form or another either before or after.

Love DOES cover a multitude of sins. I am living proof of that.

You may not forget but you do not have to hold it against them.

Forgive. Move on.

I know it’s not easy sometimes but then again…neither is being a Christian.

  1. We forgive and love. The Holy Spirit gives us discernment.
Mt 7.6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
We don’t open ourselves all the way to our inner core to everyone. If trust has been violated, it must be regained. We show respect and love in the meantime (I think of the Apostle Paul and his rift with John Mark in Acts 15.36-40), and wait on the Lord.

  2. Truer words have not been said…we don’t open ourselves all the way to our innee core to everyone. Love that, because it is so truthful.

I have a very few select that know everything. I trust them explicitly with that knowledge of who I am.

  3. When we choose to forgive we do forget after a time. when we get the best one from god, at a time we forgot all the last moment, and say thanks to god for help. But overall it is a good thought.
