Some people know the real name for this tree but most do not, like me. In my eyes it’s just a tree with thorns on the branches. I call it the wait-a-minute bush. Trust me, you bump into one you will wait a minute. I’ve been stuck by those thorns many a time while hunting.

Paul had a thorn he ran into as well.

Many a theological debates have been made over the thorn in Paul’s side. It was something he wanted to be rid of. God said nope but my grace is sufficient. It doesn’t matter what the thorn was because Paul knew that no matter what happened God’s grace was sufficient for that moment when the thorn stuck him.

It was in that thorn that Paul stayed humble not prideful or boastful.

We all bump into a wait-a-minute bush from time to time. A sin or habit that rears its head occasionally or frequently.

We think we have it all together and then wham. It is at that moment God says you know my grace, through Jesus, is sufficient for that.. Don’t worry, here let me pull you back up. I love you and I forgive you! Lets try that again but this time lean on Me.

  1. Amen brother! The Lord has spoken to my heart many times that His grace is sufficient regarding Celiac Disease. I have prayed many times for Him to remove it and for healing, but every time I hear Him say, “My grace is sufficient for you.” I pray I can walk humbly in it. God bless!

      1. Yes, definitely! It is a huge testimony to our kids. They have seen the power of God and they know anything is possible for us who believe. Sometimes I wonder if I have this thorn to balance out all the incredible supernatural things I have been through. Like Paul said, to keep him from becoming conceited. I’m sure there are many ways God is using this thorn and I just pray for the strength to endure it and give Him glory. God has been so good and faithful to me! God bless!

    1. Thank you Maxine! I am doing better. All utilities are back on 🙂

I always complain about not having a shower but oh my gosh did that hot bath feel good last night!!

And it is certainly one of my questions as well! Because he was single I’ve always wondered if it was a lustful heart…just thoughts of course.

      I appreciate the prayers greatly!

  3. Well said again Stu. Too many today want a cute and easy Christianity where all they have to do is click “like” or post “amen” or if you really love Jesus, “repost this”! Our greatest testimony to God’s grace and the clearest reflection of Jesus is in how we handle the thorns. We could learn a lot about handling thorns…..from Jesus!

  4. I love this part: “Don’t worry, here let me pull you back up. I love you and I forgive you! Lets try that again but this time lean on Me.”
I’m putting that in my pocket to carry with me for a long time.

  5. Amen! This message is so needed. Once we become Christians, we are forgiven for our sin, but Satan will be tempting us from now until we get to heaven. 1 John 1:9 – If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Thank you, Jesus. Help us grow to be more like you day by day!
