Do Not Put Them Where They Do Not Belong: A Rant

Oh, if I had a penny for every time I heard this…

“I can not believe they did that!”

And I’m always like…

“Really?!?”

Look at all the crap you have done.

Heck, look at all the stupid crap I’ve done.

I’ve also almost killed myself by drinking.

I tried to commit suicide.

I had an addiction to pornography for almost 30 years.

I’ve had sex with countless people.

I’ve lied.

I’ve cheated.

I’ve stolen things.

And you want me to think they are so high and mighty that they can not fall?

Last time I checked the Bible still says For ALL have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God!

Why should they be different?

Oh…wait…that’s right they are held to a higher standard.

I’m sorry, but a Christian Artist is still human.

As are pastors, your spouse, your kids, your parents, your superstar athlete and everyone else that walks on two legs and has a heart that beats.

I remember when this song came out…

I can’t lie. I cracked up.

Go ahead get mad at me. Unfollow me that’s fine to…

I’m not glad he did what he did. I wish adultery didn’t exist. I wish prostitution didn’t exist!

But I’m glad he got busted. It proved a point. NO ONE is perfect. Jimmy repented and has been forgiven. That’s all that matters to me.

I remember when Ray Boltz opened his closet. Everyone freaked out. Some of my friends even said they would throw away all his music they had. I said you are stupid but go ahead if you want. The sin he committed is no different than any of yours and will never negate a Holy Spirit breathed song like…

Or Micheal English’s confession of adultery.

Yeah, all of these were upsetting at the time. And those people fell…hard.

But they wouldn’t have fallen so hard if people had not put them so high.

No one should be put on a pedestal. I don’t care who they are.

Only God deserves that spot. And Jesus was the ONLY sinless one.

So I guess what I’m trying to say is this…

Don’t put people on a pedestal and then knock them off when they sin, because someone has knocked you off of theirs too.

Sure, hold them in high esteem I guess. But they will sin, just as you. So don’t kick them when they are down. Pray for a repentant heart within them. And if you are physically in their presence help them get back up on their feet spiritually speaking. Heck sometimes physically and emotionally as well.

We should be more ashamed of our own sin than other people’s sins anyway!

  1. I am in no way, shape or form defending sin. But hear me out. Christians are highly observed. It doesn’t matter what other religions or faiths do, Christians are eyed just like Jesus Christ Himself. Are there people out there who call themselves Christians with the intent to do wrong to bring shame and reproach? Yes, there are. Are there Christians (at the time) who get deceived into sin and turn their back on their Savior? Yes, there are. Are there Christians who fight spiritual battles and fail? Yes, there are.

Christians are victorious in Christ. But it doesn’t mean that it’s going to be easy. Paul himself said:

“For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.”
    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭7:15-25‬ ‭KJV‬‬

He knew what it’s like to take up his cross. Paul had a lot coming against him. But he also knew how to keep persevering.

We should also persevere. And don’t judge when a brother or sister falls.

    1. I agree. Just because I tell people I’m a Christian I am watched. And the fact that I talk about my Addiction to porn and sex I’m watched even more.
There are two types of people….
Those that want you to succeed and those that want you to fall so they can say see…told ya.
I’m no where near perfect and do not want anyone to think I am.

      1. Agreed. There’s far more who want to see someone fall. It makes them feel like they’re superior.

It takes a better person to lift someone out of the pit than push them in.

      2. Even more than they watch and judge when Christians fall, they watch to see the fallout: will the Christian try to cover and hide (like Adam and Eve), or will the Christian act like a Christian: admit, confess, repent?

  2. Amen! If every Christian read and agreed with what you said, imagine how different this world would be. Never unfollowing when truth is spoken by you as always ❤
