January | A Fresh Start, A Blank Slate Tag

This is totally cool! Purple Rose from Confessions & Thoughts Of A Reluctant Preacher’s Daughter has tagged me in this cool new tag! It will be a year long tag that she and her daughter Destiny from Dollfaced Writer have created and each month will be a different topic with new nominees! I can not wait to see how this progresses as the year goes on!

Here are the rules:

  • Thank the person who nominated you to participate.
  • Link back to the original post (Purple Rose”s & Dollfaced Writer”s)
  • Attach an image that inspires you regarding the month’s theme (or use the original).
  • Talk about what this month’s theme means to you.
  • Answer the questions.
  • Nominate 3 people to participate.
  • Enjoy the rest of your month 🙂

For January, our theme is called: A Fresh Start, A Blank Slate

This photo is what I envisioned right off the bat when I read the title…a chalkboard and an eraser…

Granted this one isn’t “clean” though it has been wiped down. And sometimes that is how I feel. I know the Lord forgives me of my sins and that the slate is clean. At least in the spiritual. But on the emotional I still see things.

And that is what I want to change about myself this year. I want to be so close to God that the only thing I see is a clean board and not my wiped down version with the residue still there. (If that makes sense)

Here are this months questions 🙂

1. Tell us about two things you want to change this year.

I want to be closer to God and simply be a better person. And to be a better person I need to get a hold of my anger issues when it comes to my ex-wife and her family.

2. Do you have a “Word of the Year”? If so, what is it?

I do have a word for this year and it is intentional.

3. What do you do on New Year’s Eve?

Ha, being single not much. Though I will do fireworks with the kids if they want to 🙂

4. Do you make New Years Resolutions?

No, because I do not keep them.

5. If you answered yes to the previous question, how long do you usually keep your resolutions?

Well, when I did make them it would last a few months.

6. Is there one resolution you make over and over?

To be a better dad. And even this year I want to be more intentional with my relationship with Brandon and Erin 🙂

7. What do you need to let go of from 2018 as we begin our journey in 2019?

Regret and fear of a repeat in my emotional battle in 2018.

Here are my nominees:

Ana at Mom Life With Chiari

Laura at All The Shoes I Wear

Kathy at Maggie Tiggles

Now to go enjoy the rest of my month…bwahahaha!

Seriously though…it will be a good month 🙂

Have fun with the tag ladies 🙂 🙂

  1. Praying this year that you and God become closer, that you use the eyes He gives you to see who you are, and that with those eyes, you align your thoughts and heart in a more intimate relationship with Him as He uses you in the lives of others. May your joy in Him (and you) grow.
Eph 1.18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints
