Laura from All The Shoes I Wear has so graciously nominated me for The Random Acts Of Kindness Award. I didn’t even know such a thing existed. This is so humbling and such an honor.

There have been many random acts of kindness in my life.

But this one sticks out so much…

It was about 4 years ago…

I was transferred to another Game Stop store to fix it and train the staff. It was over an hour drive every day one way and my bills were already so tight I could barely make ends meet. But duty called.

The first two weeks were the hardest as gas was killing me. I asked God to allow me to make it with what little money I had for the rest of the week.

Well…

This young man comes into the store walks straight to me at the counter and puts a twenty dollar bill on the counter and says…

Sir, as I walking by the store I heard God tell me to give you this. He also told me to tell you that He loves you and to stay strong.

Then he turns around and walks out. I was left there at the counter with tears in my eyes and my mouth wide open.

I had never seen this man before or after. He was not a customer. He was just a man willing to obey the voice of God and by doing so we both received a blessing that day!

Something I will never forget happening to me, that’s for sure.

Now my nominees are a part of my blogging family. They have shown me so much love and given me so much encouragement. They all have enriched my life.

  5. How wonderful and uplifting Stu! My mind thought of the many times I’d answered my phone during the day to hear my husband telling me ” dont be mad” but ….he’d seen some random person here or there and felt like God wanted him to give them x amount of money and didn’t understand this feeling or why but that was what he was being told. We weren’t well off by any means and at struggling ourselves. My answer was always the same and he knew it would be but just wanted me to know what God was saying. ” Whatever God says do…do. we don’t need to know why.” It’s pretty great to read your post to him and for him to see how God, through a single act, blesses both the giver and reciiever of an act of kindness. 💕

    2. This reminds me of when we hear God’s voice, we should just be obedient. As you said, both the giver and receiver are blessed. That’s where we forget, to just do as God says, and trust that He will take care of the rest. As the scripture says, ‘….. he shall receive an hundredfold ….. many who are first will be last and the last will be first.’

  10. Wow! That was truly something amazing. God is always near us, if we only stop to listen, we’d hear His voice daily. Loved how you were able to see God in such an amazing way. I’ve been there, counting my last pennies, not knowing where the next meal will come from next AND then God appears and I see I was never alone and there was absolutely nothing to worry about. Amazing Stuart, thank you for sharing something that allows me to see God again in flesh. 😊🙏🏽

      1. That’s amazing! It sure did. I’m always in awe of the acts that God has done in everyone’s lives. It’s so inspiring and moving to know when, how and the ways God has presented himself in the lives of others. Because He does, it’s when we open our eyes and see that it isn’t by our own strength that things happen but rather by the Holy Spirit. I only pray that I allow Him to continue to follow Him and not fear the unknown. 😊🙏🏽

      2. Awe – amazing how words can touch our inner souls! Many things are so incredibly difficult for me, especially seeing the brighter sides of things because for so much of my days, my days are spent in physical pain. But on a positive note, I’m learning to have love and patience for myself. No one is perfect and I’m trying not to compare to others, especially other moms. That can be brutal to our hearts. 😊🙏🏽

    1. Thank you Gail! He is quick at times and “slow” in others. But He is always faithful. I’m glad you enjoyed reading my little story 🙂

  14. How could I not post … ?? I would publicly acknowledge you any place for you have been the closest example of “christianity” I can truly say I’ve experienced, but mire than that as another follower commented, you came through that one evening for me as I had stood gazing into the bare cabinets, weeping as hunger was knawing at my insides, and wondering where was this God everyone speaks of to me. I’ve lived with that feeling of being hungry many more times that anyone should, and I’ve stood precariously close to the edge of atheism myself. However you rescued me not only that night, but more than a few times. A simple $20 looks and feels like a million to a hungry soul. And like anyone ever could – but you’ve put another type of hunger into action, one still yet not understood, but there nonetheless. Yes sir, you’re my hero who possesses golden twenty dollar bills! I love you man !!! ❤

    1. I love you too sis! I too have stared at bare cabinets on many occasions trying to figure out how in the world I would feed the kids when they came over. And then God would in the form of another bring food over.

It’s funny though brother how when I was fortunate enough to have that horrid fb account, nearly every “friend” were self professing Christians, and though I’ve struggled most of my life, when this recent battle threatened to overwhelm me, in reaching out to those friends, none could help with anything but rationalizations and one of the strongest and longest friendships ended over a measly $15 request. My heart aches over that. Yes, we all have struggles of one degree or another, but it wasn’t the struggle, the hunger, or lack of that disturbed me so greatly; it was the falsehoods, the shallowness, those calling themselves one thing yet presenting another side, and for one lost soul like me grappling to connect to a God, that was more destructive to me than I am to myself. Your act of kindness wasn’t just about sending $20 dollars to someone hungry — it goes way deeper than that and affected a part of me much deeper than even I could adequately explain. I have not words. But I am still hanging to a thin cord of belief that there is a God, who does somehow know me, but the why’s of it all still continues to haunt me. But because of YOU I continue…
