I am always humbled and honored to be recognized by my friends within the blogging community. It means so much to me that the words God gives me to write touches you all.
Thank you Priscilla for thinking of me 🙂 Go check out her blog the Writer’s Choice. You will not be disappointed and while you are there check out her Recognition Award and her reason for doing what she does.
The story behind my blog:
I started blogging back in 2012 after several of my friends, who read my posts on Spiritual Leaders Of The Family and Resurrecting The Redeemed From Porn Addiction, encouraged me to take it a step further. Now I kind of combine those two struggles of being a spiritual leader and a thirty year porn addiction with everyday struggles. What a hard yet wonderful journey it has been 🙂
Here are two tidbits of advice for my fellow bloggers:
1. Stay focused, as hard as that can be at times, and write from your heart.
2. Don’t sweat the numbers. Trust me they can be misleading. It’s never about the likes, the shares or the views of your latest post. It’s about the lives that you touch with your writing and that dear friends is the real reason we do what we do.
Ok, so now who do I give recognition to? 🤔
Every blogger out there has a voice wanting to be heard and recognized for that voice, no matter the topic.
Here are my nominees:
A Dark Night Shattered By Light
I chose seven blogs because seven is my favorite number.
To those I nominated, please know you do not have to participate I just wanted you to know I recognize you and I admire you for all you do.
God bless!
Here are the rules:
- Write a post to show your award.
- Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
- Give a brief story of how your blog started.
- Give two pieces of advice for new bloggers.
- Nominate 6-12 bloggers who you believe deserve to be recognized. Comment on their blogs, to let the nominees know they have been nominated.
It was so neat getting to know you better by reading your answers. I love that you have been willing to put yourself out there, confessing a past addiction in order to help others along the way. God bless you!
Then I read the bottom and saw my name listed………….thank you SO much for this honor, it is very much appreciated!

Thank you Wendi! Writing about my past addiction is tough at times because I know so many are struggling with the same issue but I don’t want to write “too” much as to cause someone to stumble in their recovery.
You are very welcome. You deserve it 🙂

I’m a “number looking” kinda gal and you have a phenomenal point that I need to put that to use ASAP! Great answers, great tips!

Thank you 🙂
I was that “number looking” guy for the first few years. I started getting depressed and questioning myself. And Everytime, I was ready to quit, God would send a comment not by WordPress but by email, Facebook or Twitter. Also my friends wouldn’t let me quit. That said my voice needed to be heard. So I kept writing from my heart on topics I felt worthy of sharing.
Now the numbers are here, 6 years later. And though they are cool I would much rather read a comment from a reader or fellow blogger how a certain post impactes their life.

I need to get to that space. You see these crazy good numbers and then see mine and want to throw in the towel. However, no ones sees the years and effort and endless posts it took to get there. As they say, sweat and tears. So, I’m already depressed, so there would be such a huge change there, but it’s definitely not too encouraging. So, that fact that your numbers are based on a 6 year blogging experience, explains it all! Now I just hope it doesn’t take me a few years to stop looking at the numbers! Eek! And my biggest challenge right now is that I’m not on any social media outlet, none, zero! So how do you promote your blog with no social media?! Still trying to figure that one out. 🤔 Yes touching peoples lives is a major plus to the time and effort blogging takes – very true!

I can help with the sharing aspect. I share a lot of blog posts from everyone on all Social Media platforms. If a post moves me I share it.
You are also promoting your blog right now just be you and I having this chat. People read comments and go to your blog to see what you are about 🙂

Thank you, I appreciate that! There’s a sense of failure when the numbers don’t move however, Gods got the wheel, I just need patience 🙏🏽😊 Thank you!

Do you have a testimony story/post on your blog?

My first post is the one I’m most proud of. I tried to tell my story on my conditions, Chiari Malformation and Syringomyelia, as best as I could and tried to be as transparent as possible. I think I’m trying to be as vulnerable as I can while being mindful of where to draw the line at. If there’s any line to be drawn or if I should just go in it head first and hope for the best?! 😳
