For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Tell that demon to begone! Then put on your armor!
Jesus was tempted as we all are, yet he sinned not. Jesus was the Word in the flesh. So when He was tempted He quoted scripture to rebuke the devil.
In Ephesians chapter 6 it tells us to put on the whole armor of God.
The helmet of salvation: deliverance, safety, preservation, healing and soundness in Greek and Hebrew meanings and includes all the redemptive acts, which are justification, redemption, grace, forgiveness, sanctification, and glorification. We are no longer condemned through our salvation!
The shield of faith: which is our belief in our salvation and the redemptive acts. You can quench the darts the enemy throws at you due to your faith that you are redeemed, that you are forgiven through the grace of God, that you are sanctified and are going to have that glorification. That there is no condemnation for as a believer in Christ through your salvation.
The sword of Spirit: the Word of God!
Christ himself in the flesh gave us an example of how to fight the enemy and that is with the Word of God. And we should do it boldly as we have been given authority as heirs in Christ through our salvation in Him.
Our loins (our lower back) should be girded with truth meaning wrapped up. So in essence our backs should not sway when the enemy hits us with his darts for we have the truth to support us and hold us up.
Our feet shod (a plural of shoe) in the preparation of the gospel meaning we should always be prepared or ready to use the gospel(Word) to use in defense against his attacks.
All this is a means to stand against the attacks of the devil.
If you fall and sin, do not let him get you down and feeling condemnation for you know the truth!
Romans 8:1 There is, therefore, now no condemnation to them who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Do not let the enemy tell you that your sin is unforgivable!
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from ALL unrighteousness.
