Sticks and Stones

Whoever came up with the phrase Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me..was a liar!!

There is so much power in our tongue. And with it we can build others up or completely destroy their lives. I have heard story after story from men and women alike about words spoken into their lives at a early age that scarred them for a very long time.

When someone tells a young girl that she is ugly and overweight she bears those words for a long time and even when she meets her “prince” she does not believe him when he says you ARE beautiful and I love you.

When someone tells a young boy, “Oh, you’ll never amount to much” he carries that with him for a long time as well. It is always in the back of his mind even if his wife, who loves him, tells how great he IS.

We, as children of God, must watch our words. We are to lift others up not hurt and destroy them..especially our own children.
